ZooTeen youth development programs are not only fun and a great way to meet new friends, but they also provide opportunities to develop job-readiness and life skills while serving as an ambassador for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.

ZooTeen Conservation Team The ZooTeen Conservation Team is a year-round youth program that runs twice monthly throughout the school year with additional opportunities over the summer months.

Teens accepted into the ZooTeen program will serve for a calendar year (September–August) and complete a minimum of 60 hours of service.

ZooTeen Conservation Team Opportunities:

  • Assist with Zoo Camps, education events and programs.
  • Educate visitors about wildlife and environmental conservation.
  • Engage and inspire guests through informal interpretive and presentations.
  • Participate in teambuilding, trainings and experiential learning.
  • Take action for wildlife through conservation projects.
  • Participate in optional Conservation Field Studies.

Space is very limited in this program. No experience is required, but we do ask for these requirements:

  • Must be a high school student and at least 14 years old.
  • Support Riverbanks Zoo & Garden and its mission.
  • Submit an application.
  • Provide at least two references.
  • Complete an interview in May.
  • Attend program Orientation and all Mandatory Trainings.
  • Commit to at least one year (September to August).
  • Complete a minimum of 60 hours of service.
