Day Camps

Riverbanks’ Spring Break Zoo Camp (ages 5–9) and Winter Zoo Camp (ages 5–10) pack hands-on activities, animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours, games, and arts and crafts into two to three fun-filled days. The Summer Zoo Camp serves 3–13 year olds. Try our Single-Day Zoo Camp (ages 5–9) — all the fun packed into one day!

Family Programs

We want your children to grow up WILD with Riverbanks Zoo. Family Programs are special opportunities for families to learn more about the world of Riverbanks. Age-specific programs are offered to all groups from the very young to adults!

Garden Programs

Riverbanks’ Garden Programs provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn more about gardening and the fascinating world of plants. Come play in the dirt at one of these hands-on programs!

Homeschool Programs

Families with homeschooled children ages 5–13 can partake in hands-on learning experiences during Riverbanks’ Homeschool Programs throughout the school year.

Little Learners

For our smallest naturalists, we offer a variety of creative, open-ended, exploratory programs for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers with Little Learners.

Nature Preschool

Riverbanks’ nature-based, developmentally appropriate Nature Preschool provides a unique learning experience for 3- to 5-year-olds.


Spend a wild night at Riverbanks! Riverbanks’ Overnights feature behind-the-scenes tours, games, and other exciting activities for ages 5 and up.

Riverbanks on the Road

Riverbanks is on the road! Whether you are looking for a program for your students, daycare, library or adult care facility, these fun, engaging and educational programs are just for you! Riverbanks on the Road programs are designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners from young to the young at heart. Visits from our Education Animal Ambassador collection are included as part of the program!

School Programs

Whether you teach preschool or high school, we have a school program to fit your needs. All School Programs are carefully crafted around South Carolina Science Academic Standards and are developed to involve your students in active, inquiry-based learning.

Scout Programs

Attention Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cub Scouts: Come as a troop, pack or with the family to any of our exciting and informative Scout Programs where you can earn credits toward badge requirements, achievements, electives and journeys. From traditional formats to wild explorations, Scout Programs offer a variety of fresh topics and experiences.


ZooCrew is Riverbanks’ newest learning program for middle school youth that utilizes the Riverbanks campus and exhibits to learn about environmental stewardship and the science behind animal care.


ZooTeens provides two years of fun, adventure, animal handling and training to develop team building, public speaking, leadership and job readiness skills—all while having a WILD TIME!
