Domestic Goat

Description

The Farm at Riverbanks celebrates the diversity of domestic goat breeds as represented in our local community. Many of these breeds are preferred because their milk has a higher butterfat content than other dairy goats. Their milk makes delicious yogurt, cheese, butter, and ice cream. The Nubian goats have the noticeable long, floppy ears, while the LaManchas have no visible ears on the sides of their heads. The Saanen goats are a breed that originated in Switzerland and are typically solid white. While the ever popular Nigerian dwarf goats make everyone’s favorites list with their small stature but big personality.
