[Columbia, SC] — Los Angeles Rams or New England Patriots? Before the champion of Super Bowl LIII is crowned, one of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s popular pinnipeds will take a dive at determining the game’s winner.
Maverick, a rescued 6-year-old California sea lion, will fish out his Super Bowl pick this Friday, February 1 during the Zoo’s 10:30am Sea Lion Presentation. As part of the presentation, zoo keepers will toss two footballs in the pool for Maverick to choose from; one will be marked with the Rams’ logo and the other with the Patriots’ logo.
Gridiron guru or not, all guests visiting the Zoo are invited to watch the action as it happens at Sea Lion Landing. Maverick is 1-0 in predicting Super Bowl Winners. Last year, he chose the Philadelphia Eagles over the New England Patriots.
