For Immediate Release: September 8, 2017

Fall Fundraiser to Benefit Wildlife Conservation Set for Friday, September 22

[Columbia, SC] — Riverbanks Zoo and Garden invites guests to experience a taste of Africa during the Zoo’s popular fall fundraiser sponsored by Colonial Life and hosted by Riverbanks Society. Riverbanks ZOOfari will take place on Friday, September 22 at 7:00pm.

Guests can explore the Zoo after-hours while sipping custom cocktails and sampling a variety of African-inspired cuisine. The exotic evening also will feature live music including performances by the African drumming and dance group Next Door Drummers with the Gye Nyame Dance Ensemble.

A number of extraordinary silent and live auction items will once again be up for bid. In addition, select animal presentations and animal encounters will take place throughout the evening. Guests also will have an opportunity to explore behind-the-scenes of the Zoo’s elephant barn, feed the giraffes at Giraffe Overlook and climb Sky High Safari—Riverbanks’ 4-story ropes course (closed toe shoes are required for climbing).

A limited number of tickets are available and may be purchased in advance online or at any Zoo and Garden ticket window. Tickets are $60 for Riverbanks’ members and $70 for the general public. All proceeds will support the Zoo’s ongoing wildlife conservation efforts here at home and beyond the banks.

Riverbanks ZOOfari will take place rain or shine. Parking for the event is on the Zoo side only at 500 Wildlife Parkway. Dress is safari/casual.
