For Immediate Release: October 8, 2013
Riverbanks’ Halloween Spook-tacular to Take Place October 18–30
[Columbia, SC] — Halloween is coming and Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is once again preparing to scare up a fall favorite for costume-clad kids and their families. Boo at the Zoo — brought to you by McDonald’s for a third consecutive year — returns to Riverbanks on Friday, October 18.
Riverbanks is offering guests 13 wild nights of safe, affordable and family-friendly activities. Plus, new to Boo this year, families are invited to experience a special Spooky Safari made possible by Farm Bureau Insurance®. This one-of-a-kind adventure will give guests an opportunity to explore the peculiar particulars and wacky ways of wildlife that won’t leave you empty-handed.
Boo-goers will also enjoy trick-or-treating at candy stations along the Zoo’s trick-or-treat trail, splashing in a sea of soapy suds at Frankenstein’s Foam Zone, a little Halloween hocus-pocus with Ray’s Moonlight Magic, a nightly costume parade and rockin’ the night away at Mummy’s Eeky Freaky DJ Dance Party.
For an additional charge, guests can also roast marshmallows, enjoy a haunted carousel ride, take a spin on the spooky Spots and Stripes Railroad or scale the Witch’s Cauldron climbing wall.
Boo at the Zoo will take place — rain or shine — October 18–30 from 6:00–9:00pm. Trick-or-treating is reserved for kids 12 and under. Costumes are encouraged. Adults may also wear costumes, but will not be admitted with masks that cover the face.
Tickets are $7 for members and $9 for the general public. Guests should purchase tickets in advance online at www.riverbanks.org. Any remaining tickets will be available for $10 at the gate. Parking is on the Zoo side only.
