For Immediate Release: August 28, 2012
Wildest Fundraiser in Town Set for Friday, September 28
[Columbia, SC] — Join Riverbanks Zoo and Garden for the wildest fundraiser in town! Riverbanks ZOOfari, hosted by Riverbanks Society, will take place on Friday, September 28, at 7:00pm.
The all-inclusive evening will feature a palate-pleasing array of cuisines and cocktails from around the world. Guests can sample a variety of specialty dishes and drinks from countries including Brazil, France, Japan, Italy and Spain.
"ZOOfari is unique in that it gives those who are wild about wildlife an opportunity to support the Zoo and Garden while getting a rare taste of the Zoo after-hours in a safari-style setting,” said Lochlan Baskin, events manager at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. "All proceeds from the event will support ongoing wildlife conservation and education efforts here at Riverbanks.”
New this year, Pocket Productions will be entertaining the crowd with the use of interactive video allowing guests to step out of reality and immerse themselves into different computer-generated scenarios.
Guests can also bid on one-of-a-kind silent and live auction items including the opportunity to name one of Riverbanks’ newest residents – a koala joey. In addition, scheduled animal encounters and a behind-the-scenes tour will take place. Guests can also experience a nighttime climb on Sky-High Safari—the Zoo’s 4-story ropes challenge course.
A limited number of tickets will be sold. Advance tickets are $50 for Riverbanks members and $60 for the general public. Admission will be $70 the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased online at www.riverbanks.org or at any Zoo ticket window.
Riverbanks ZOOfari will take place rain or shine. Dress is safari or business casual. Low-heeled, closed-toe shoes are required to climb Sky-High Safari.
