Now is the Time to Sign Up for the Wildest Camp in Town
[Columbia, SC] — Whether it’s a three day adventure exploring the similarities and differences between a common squirrel and a flying fox, or a week long journey unraveling animal mysteries and tracking wildlife, Riverbanks Zoo is sure to have campers howling with delight this spring and summer. In an effort to make Zoo Camp more affordable than ever, now through March 15, Riverbanks is offering 25% off regular summer camp registration fees to the general public.
This year’s summer Zoo Camp for kids ages 4 to 12 will offer 10 one-week sessions, June 6 through August 12 (with an additional discounted session during the July 4th week). Also new this year: two different topics will be offered to each age group, providing an unprecedented opportunity to sign up for additional sessions.
Summer camp comprises of five exciting age-appropriate experiences. Sprout Camp offers children ages 3 to 4 with an adult the chance to explore together the secret lives of bugs, birds and critters in their own backyards. KinderCamp will give children ages 4 to 5 the opportunity to discover wild seasons and sense-able animals. Wild Weeks: ZOOper Heroes allow kids ages 6 to 7 to investigate a watery world or take an egg-cellent adventure. Wild Weeks: Riverbanks Rangers will have kids ages 8 to 9 tracking wildlife or building habitats; and Wild Weeks: ZSI Crime Scene Investigators offers bigger kids, ages 10 to 12, the chance to examine animal forensics or the complex social structures of the animal kingdom.
Standard Zoo Camp registration fees are as follows: Sprout Camp – Riverbanks members $84, general public $114; KinderCamp – $120 Riverbanks members, $190 general public; Wild Weeks – $185 Riverbanks members, $255 general public. An extended stay and play option is available for an additional $75, allowing parents to drop off their campers as early as 7:45am and pick them up as late as 5:00pm.
A few slots also remain for Spring Break Camp, where campers will learn about some of South Carolina’s native animals and compare them to some of the Zoo’s out-of-town residents. Spring Break Camp fees are $120 for Riverbanks members and $150 for the general public.
