Duties: Under limited supervision plans, directs and oversees the activities of the Education Division to ensure quality natural history and conservation educations programs, presentations and resources so as to maximize the public’s understanding of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden as an educational and scientific resource. Analyzes, recommends, implements and evaluates extensive and diversified conservation education programs for select target audiences throughout the Zoo and Garden with emphasis on zoo and garden biology, worldwide flora and fauna, environmental issues, biological research and conservation practices. Supervises Education Division staff. Prepares and monitors the departmental budget. Maintains accurate reports and evaluations of formal and informal program offerings. Reports to the Executive Director.

Requirements: Requirements: Master’s degree in Education, Biology or Wildlife Management, with three to five years of teaching experience coupled with three to five years of management experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.

Duties: Under general supervision, operates multi-car tram along assigned routes to transport guests of the zoo and garden to and from central loading areas. Provides assistance to guests. Practices safe driving techniques to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians. Handles vehicle servicing as necessary. Maintains records and prepares reports as required. Works 8:30am – 6:00pm. Must also be available to work evening events as needed. Reports to the Senior Public Safety Officer.

Requirements: High school graduate and a minimum of two years previous passenger transportation experience. Excellent customer service skills a must. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years old.

Duties: Under general supervision is responsible for the proper care of mammals in Riverbanks’ animal collection. Works primarily with Great Apes, various primates, and other small mammals. Feeds animals, cleans and maintains exhibits, works with veterinary staff to monitor and treat diseases, monitors animal behavior, and provides enrichment and training. Maintains detailed behavioral, reproductive, and medical records and reports. Interacts with Riverbanks guests and cooperates within a team to provide top quality animal care. Reports to the Senior Keeper and the Assistant Curator.

Requirements: Associate's degree, Bachelors preferred, in biology, zoology or wildlife management and one to two years experience working with zoo/exotic animals in a professional setting, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience working directly with gorillas and other primates preferred. Must possess or qualify for a valid SC driver's license.

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing various heating, air conditioning and refrigeration devices and systems. Replaces or repairs various other industrial equipment, heat pumps, air conditioning units, electric strip heat, gas boilers, domestic refrigerators, water coolers, cold generators, window units, ventilation systems, chill water units, and life support systems for various animals, fish, and reptiles. Works as a member of the maintenance team on various projects, doing HVAC and general maintenance and construction tasks. Is responsible for on-call weekend duty on a rotating basis. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements: High school graduate with vocational/technical school training in HVAC courses with three to five years of experience in troubleshooting, repairing and installing HVAC systems; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be certified to purchase and recycle refrigerant gases. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver's license.

Duties: Responsible for daily operations of concession stands. We have a variety of options/concessions from fixed Kiosks to portable carts. Responsible for inventory controls, customer service, cash handling and reporting. Concession experience is helpful but not required. We will train on cash registers/POS systems.

Requirements: Must have good communications skills both written and oral. Must work well independently or in teams. Must be able to provide courteous customer service consistently. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures and be held accountable.
