Communicates with the public about Riverbanks exhibits, attractions, services, and policies. Reports to the Guest Services Manager and the Director of Guest Services.

Requirements: High school diploma and 4-6 months of work experience in customer service or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Cashier experience and strong customer services skills are required. Must be available week days and weekends.

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for supervising animal husbandry in Riverbanks Conservation Outpost (primarily small mammals) and Riverbanks Gorilla collection. Supervises the work assigned to a team of mammal keepers. Designs, maintains and repairs animal enclosures; maintains aesthetically pleasing exhibits; works with veterinary staff to diagnose and treat animal diseases. Monitors and reports animal behavior. Plans and participates in animal training, transport, and medical procedures. Instructs staff, interns, and volunteers insuring that all animals receive top quality animal care. Interacts with guests and provides informal and programmed educational information. Reports to the Assistant Mammal Curator.

Requirements: Associate's degree in Biology, Zoology or Wildlife Management; Bachelor’s Degree preferred, and three to five years of experience working with animals, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience working directly with Great Apes, a variety of primates, and other small mammals preferred. Excellent supervisory, communication, and organizational skills. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver’s license.

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for the proper care of a taxonomically diverse collection within the Bird Department. Feeding and watering birds, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining exhibits and some public areas, observing animals for illness, injury, and abnormal behavior. Working with veterinary staff to monitor and treat injuries and diseases. Monitoring animal behavior and welfare. Participate in avian capture and restraint. Participate in artificial incubation and hand-rearing. Prepare animal shipping crates and paperwork, participating in internal and external animal moves. Working with power tools to build and maintain exhibits. Maintaining detailed behavioral, reproductive, and medical records and reports. Interacting with Riverbanks guests, and speaking to the public in a variety of formal and informal educational presentations. Gaining certification for and participating as member of Riverbanks dive team. Conducting behavioral enrichment and operant conditioning. Providing assistance and guidance volunteers assigned to the department. Serving as Mentor to Bird Department Interns. Works cooperatively with other departments including maintenance, horticulture, education, and events. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to the Senior Bird Keeper and the Curator of Birds.

Requirements: Associate's degree required, with a bachelor’s degree preferred in Biology, Zoology or Wildlife Management preferred and two to three years of experience working with animals, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must be capable of climbing ladders, bending, navigating uneven terrain, lifting 50 lbs. Prefer a candidate with experience working directly with exotic birds in a professional setting. Basic computer skills including word-processing and spreadsheet management required. Knowledge of ZIMS or other institutional animal records applications is desired. Practical woodworking/construction/power tools experience a plus. SCUBA or other diving certifications a plus. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver's license. Working weekends and holidays required.

Duties: Under general supervision, operates multi-car tram along assigned routes to transport guests of the zoo and garden to and from central loading areas. Provides assistance to guests. Requirements: Vocational/technical training in Bookkeeping/Accounting. Strong computer skills required. Experience is helpful. Must demonstrate great attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability.

Duties: Under limited supervision, The Coordinator of School Programs is directly responsible for the coordination, development, and instruction of the school programs offered by Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. Insures that all programs are student centered and are written in accordance with both national and state of South Carolina education standards. The Coordinator also trains and coordinates part-time instructors and develops and delivers effective teacher-training programs. Reports to the Director of Education.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in an education or science related field. 2-3 years experience delivering and planning formal/informal education programs for schools and school-aged learners. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Prefer experience with public school science programs. Must demonstrate enthusiasm for nature and science and creativity in developing programs that will inspire enthusiasm in others. Must be available to work at special events that may be on weekends and/or evenings. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC state driver's license.
