Sturnid Survey Data

October 2000

The sturnidae survey has allowed us to collect substantial data with regards to the captive management and breeding of starlings and mynahs. (See the list of topics below.) This information will be included in the Sturnidae husbandry/resource manual, which will be published in time to be handed out at this spring’s regional conference in Knoxville, TN. Prior to its publication, a draft of the manual will be circulated, for edit and review, to the members of the PACT TAG committee, WCMC, and any other groups sharing an interest.

We are looking forward to applying the survey findings in the manual and to making some good recommendations for the captive management of this family of birds. We also anticipate that the husbandry manual will offer the most timely information thanks to everyone that provided survey data. We ask anyone with additional or updated information about sturnid species to please share this with us as we intend to continually add to the husbandry manual.

Sincerely,

Greg Bockheim and Susan Congdon
