Maximize your Zoo visit with hands-on, interactive activities that the whole family can enjoy! To participate in Zoo rides and attractions, a reloadable Explore More card is required; cash is not accepted. Purchase your Explore More card* at the ticket booth or one of several convenient locations throughout the Zoo. For year-round savings on rides and attractions, consider our Explorer memberships.

*$1=1 Explore More Credit (EC).* Attraction dates and times may vary and are subject to early closing due to weather. Current schedules may be confirmed at any ticket booth.

Discover Waterfall Junction

Info: A 3-acre interactive children’s garden featuring a dino dig, giant tree houses, kid-size playhouses, splash zone and more.
Time: 9:00am–5:00pm
Restrictions: All children ages 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Children must be older than 2 to play in or around the Aflac Splash Zone; children ages 2 and younger are invited to play in the Lil Sprouts Splash Zone with adult supervision. Children under age 4 must wear proper swim diapers or must be fully potty trained to play in any water features. Water shoes are recommended.
Cost: Free with paid admission or Riverbanks membership.

Feed the Giraffes at Giraffe Overlook

Time: 10:00am–1:30pm (or until giraffes have eaten their daily allotment.)

Zip the Zoo and ZOOm the River!

Info: Soar to new heights as you Zip the Zoo and ZOOm the River!

Zipline Canopy Tour (includes both the River Zip and Zip the Zoo) — Challenge yourself to the ultimate adventure with seven treetop zips, test your balance across a rickety bridge, climb through two cargo nets and take a 1,000-foot flight over the scenic Saluda River.

River Zip (excludes Zip the Zoo) — Climb through a cargo net, zip through the treetops, cross a rickety bridge and take a 1,000-foot flight over the scenic Saluda River.

Zip the Zoo (excludes River Zip) — Climb through cargo nets and zip through the treetops along the edge of the Zoo’s Carousel Plaza. (Ideal for beginner and intermediate zippers.)

Time: Zip tours are scheduled weekly. Dates and times may vary. Check for availability. Tours take from 2 to 3 hours depending on tour, group size and needs of the group. Approximately 30 minutes of the experience involves instruction and suiting up. Guests should plan to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour.

Cost: Zipline Canopy Tour (includes River Zip and Zip the Zoo) — $80 general public, $60 members; River Zip — $55 general public, $40 members; Zip the Zoo — $35 general public, $25 members. Prices include general admission. Reservations are required.

Restrictions: min. 70 lbs.; max. 250 lbs.; Zip line participants will be outfitted in a full body harness with shoulder straps, waist belt, and leg loops. Please wear comfortable pants or shorts; short shorts are not recommended. Footwear should consist of closed-toed shoes like sneakers or hiking boots (no flip-flops, crocs or Vibram FiveFinger shoes). Long hair should be tied back and glasses should have a strap to keep them secured. Note: Guests must sign a waiver in order to participate.

Cancellations: Tours take place rain or shine. If there is a chance of rain, Riverbanks will still operate tours. Tours may be cancelled by Riverbanks in the event of thunder, lightning, torrential rain, or severe wind. If Riverbanks must cancel a tour, you will have the opportunity to reschedule your tour.
