Group Visits

Arriving with a group of 15 or more? Groups purchasing 15 or more admission tickets will receive a discount when paying in advance online or making reservations at least two weeks in advance of the visit date.

Group Admission Rates and Procedures

  • Group Adults — $11.00
  • Group Children (2–12 years) — $9.00
  • Group Children (younger than 2) — FREE

Admission rates include entry to both the Zoo and the Botanical Garden. Pets, food, beverages and coolers are not allowed in the park. Riverbanks is a smoke-free facility.

Group rates are not available for Boo at the Zoo or Lights Before Christmas, and group registration is not required for these after-hours events.

PAY IN ADVANCE: For the best admission rate and quicker access to the Zoo, we recommend that groups pay in advance online. Print-at-home tickets will be emailed directly to your group leader, and your group can avoid long lines by going straight to the turnstile.

PAY AT THE GATE: If you plan on paying on the day of your visit, we recommend you make a reservation at least two weeks in advance. While reservations are no longer required, walk-up groups without two-weeks-prior reservations will be required to pay $11.75 (adults) and $9.25 (children).

GROUP ENTRY: All members of your group should plan to arrive (and enter) together. Upon arrival, please have the exact count of the number of children and adults in your group. The total admission fee due for your group must be presented to the ticket booth by one representative in your party. (Check or credit card is preferred. Cash will be accepted in large bills only.)

EXIT AND RE-ENTRY: If you plan to leave the Zoo during your visit, please depart as a group and return as a group by showing your ticket stub or receipt. Individuals from your group will not be allowed back in to the park without proof of purchase.

School Field Trips and Lunch Options

Each year, more than 100,000 school children make a visit to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Whether you teach preschool or high school, we have a school program to fit your needs! All programs are carefully crafted around South Carolina Science Academic Standards and are developed to involve your students in active, student-centered learning. Enhance your field trip with one of our newly revamped and engaging education programs. Please plan to bring one adult chaperone for every 10 children.

Riverbanks offers a variety of “Jungle Meals” especially designed for school groups looking for an organized, on-site lunch option for a minimum of 25 individuals. Jungle Meals are available Monday–Friday, during Zoo hours and are delivered to our sheltered Safari Camp picnic pavilion. Jungle Meals must be booked at least two weeks in advance and are generally available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis; however, a signed contract and deposit is required. You will receive an agreement with additional details shortly after your reservation is submitted. Final meal counts for adults and children will be due 5 business days prior to your visit date. If your group will be participating in an education program, please be sure to schedule your meal time at least 20 minutes after the end of your program.
