[Columbia, SC] - On Saturday, October 2, Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will host the wildest fundraiser in town. Riverbanks ZOOfari returns this year with captivating entertainment, animal presentations and even more fabulous food than before. Party-goers will find entertainment around every turn with performances by DeVine from Living World Entertainment, Woyate West African Drum and Dance Company, and Palmetto Pans, University of South Carolina’s steel drum band. A caricature artist will also be on hand creating take-home portraits for guests. Food stations located throughout the park will feature menu items such as lump crab cake, pimento cheese pinwheels, sweet tea-infused southern-style chicken, goat cheese and herb stuffed zucchini, tuna tartare and Dijon-crusted lamb chops. This year, Riverbanks will showcase some of the animals that benefit from fundraisers such as ZOOfari. Timed presentations will occur every half-hour until the live auction commences at 9pm. The live and silent auctions will take place under the covered pavilion at Safari Camp and feature many one-of-a-kind items and opportunities. On the auction block this year is the right to name the newest penguin at the Zoo. Tickets for Riverbanks ZOOfari are on sale now and available online. Regular admission tickets are $85 and tickets for Riverbanks members are $75. Riverbanks ZOOfari is a fundraiser hosted by Riverbanks Society, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the needs of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. All proceeds from the event help care for the animals that call Riverbanks home. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.
