[Columbia, SC] - Riverbanks Society will host the 7th annual Wine Tasting at Riverbanks Botanical Garden fundraiser on Friday, April 23. From 7:00pm to 9:30pm, guests will sample domestic and imported wines at stations throughout the Botanical Garden, consult expert vintners about the featured wines and enjoy live jazz performed by Jamie Beresford and the Mandate. “This year, we decided to put a new twist on a vintage favorite by showcasing cuisine from local restaurants,” said Lochlan Kennedy, events manager at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Savory light bites from some of the area’s finest restaurants will be available. Restaurant partners include Blue Marlin Signature Catering, Garibaldi Café, Liberty Tap Room & Grill, Momo’s Bistro and Terra. To preserve the intimacy of the event, a limited number of tickets will be sold. Tickets purchased in advance are $40 for Riverbanks members and $50 for the general public. All tickets purchased the day of the event will be $60. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Zoo or Garden entrance. All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the ongoing conservation and education efforts at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Riverbanks Zoo and Garden encourages responsible drinking. Proper photo identification is required and no one under the age of 21 will be permitted. If you are looking to make a night of it, overnight hotel packages are available at the Embassy Suites Hotel and the Radisson Hotel Columbia and Conference Center. Wine Tasting will go on rain or shine.
