| Registration in Progress for Riverbanks’ Winter Break Camp |
|
[Columbia, SC] - Winter Break Camp at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is sure to be a cool adventure for children ages 6–10. This year, Riverbanks is offering two opportunities for kids to attend the camp while school is out, December 20–21 or 27–28. “Riverbanks’ Winter Break Camp is an educational adventure for kids while they are on break from school. It also helps out working parents who are in a crunch while their kids are on winter break,” said Heather Johnson, director of conservation education. “It’s a win-win for parents and kids.” Winter Camp participants will focus on how animals are adapted to survive during the winter months and where the animals live during the frigid season. Children will enjoy hands-on activities, live animal encounters, arts and crafts, zoo walks and educational games. Winter Break Camp is designed and led by the same professional staff that oversees Riverbanks’ award-winning summer camp programs. Preregistration is required for Winter Break Camp. The cost for the 2-day camp is $70 for Riverbanks members and $100 for the general public. The camp runs from 9am to 3pm, with an extended stay and play option allowing children to remain at camp until 5:15pm for an additional $20. Children should bring their lunch, a snack and a filled water bottle to camp each day. Early drop-off begins at 8:20am each morning and dismissal begins at 3:00pm each afternoon.
