| Riverbanks Recognizes Community Support with Free Admission for Richland and Lexington County Residents |
|
[Columbia, SC] - Free Fridays kicks off this Friday, January 5, and will run throughout the months of January and February for residents of Richland and Lexington counties. The Free Fridays program is a way for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden to thank residents of these counties for their support by providing free admission.
“Riverbanks receives an unbelievable amount of support from the local community,” said Satch Krantz, executive director of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. “Providing residents of Richland and Lexington counties with a free day at the Zoo is a small token of our appreciation for their unwavering commitment.”
January and February are a great time of year to visit the Zoo because many of the animals are often their most active during the cold weather months. There is also an array of indoor exhibits including the Birdhouse at Riverbanks, Aquarium Reptile Complex, Gorilla Base Camp and Koala Knockabout. In addition, Riverbanks now offers Starbucks coffee to help you warm up on those cold winter days.
Riverbanks is a special purpose district and receives funding each year from Richland and Lexington county taxpayers. To qualify for free admission, Richland and Lexington county residents will be asked to show proof of residency with a valid ID. All other visitors will be charged regular admission.
