Riverbanks’ Long Necks Inspire an All-New Brew for Frothy Fundraiser

For Immediate Release: July 7, 2016

Support Wildlife Conservation with Brew at the Zoo on Friday, August 5

[Columbia, SC] — Join the herd for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s annual suds sippin’ safari and support wildlife conservation during Brew at the Zoo on Friday, August 5.

The popular summer fundraiser, hosted by Riverbanks Society, will take place from 7:00pm to 9:30pm and will once again feature more than 100 varieties of beer to sample. All proceeds from the event will support ongoing wildlife conservation and education efforts at Riverbanks.

To help inspire contributions towards conservation, Riverbanks has partnered with Swamp Cabbage Brewing to craft an all-new draught. The giraffe’s picks, now known as Bruce’s Brew, is a well-balanced blend of vanilla bean, brown ale, 60 ale and chocolate malt. Click here to view the selection process.

Also new this year, Riverbanks and Beverage South invite guests to create their very own fruit-infused Sea Lion Shandy. The fruit bar and select beer will be setup on The Wharf at Sea Lion Landing. Other highlights on tap for the evening include live music, up-close animal encounters and scheduled animal presentations. Food also will be available for purchase during the event.

Brew at the Zoo is expected to sell out. Guests should purchase tickets in advance online. Advance prices are $35 for Zoo members and $45 for the general public. Any remaining tickets will be $55 the day of the event.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden encourages responsible drinking. All guests will be asked to show proper photo identification; no one under the age of 21 will be permitted. To help ensure the safety of our guests, Riverbanks will pay the first $15 towards cab fares to hotels and residences in Richland and Lexington counties.
