Get Into the Growing Groove at Riverbanks Botanical Garden
For Immediate Release: February 21, 2013
Springtime at the Garden Festival to Take Place on Saturday, March 23
[Columbia, SC] — Spring into the growing season with Riverbanks’ annual Springtime at the Garden Festival on Saturday, March 23.
Don’t have a green thumb? Don’t worry! Whether you’re a master gardener, a budding grower or simply enjoy the sights of the season, our family-friendly celebration provides a bouquet of activities for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.
Riverbanks’ horticulture staff and experts from Clemson Extension will be on hand to answer questions on topics ranging from composting and bamboo best practices to vegetable gardening and managing pesky pest problems. Guests can also take advantage of other demonstrations including new gardening trends, creative floral arranging, square-foot-gardening and cooking.
In addition, more than 40 vendors from across the Carolinas and Georgia will be on-site with a variety of plants and products available for purchase. Shop around for gardening tools, yard décor, recycled art, books, cooking gadgets, bath and beauty products, jewelry, blown glass and much more.
The day-long festival will once again feature live music to help get guests in the growing groove. Local favorite Whiskey Tango Revue will entertain the crowd with their funky take on outlaw country. And there will be plenty of fun activities for little sprouts: hula hooping, paling around with Zephyr the Fairy, bug adventures, plus hands-on arts and crafts.
Springtime at the Garden will take place from 9am-4pm, rain or shine. The event is free with paid admission to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. For more information, visit www.riverbanks.org.
