Zoo Releases Loads of Poo for Sale in Time for the Growing Season
[Columbia, SC] — Don’t rely on any ordinary poo for spring planting! Instead, give your garden a boost with Riverbanks comPOOst.
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is now accepting pre-orders for bulk loads (approximately one cubic yard) of comPOOst—an all-natural composted zoo poo effortlessly produced by some of our most famous residents: elephants, giraffes and zebras.
The serious gardener can take a load off on Friday, March 23, by pre-ordering online today. The bulk cost is $43 per load. Please limit two loads per order. Load quantities are limited and are expected to sell-out quickly.
From start to finish, the comPOOsting process takes about three months. Each day, approximately 1,500 pounds of manure is deposited in the comPOOst pile, of which nearly 75% comes from Riverbanks’ four African elephants.
The scheduled pick-up time on Friday, March 23, is from 4:30–8:00pm.
Pint-size and two-gallon buckets of comPOOst are available at the Zoo and Garden entrances throughout the year.
