Veterinary Technician

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for assisting the Senior and Associate Veterinarians and providing support in the evaluation and treatment of animals. Performs diagnostic tests and radiographs of animals, monitors patients, maintains records and hospital cleanliness. Will assist with surgical procedures on our collection animals and daily care of ICU and neonatal patients. Provides care to wild native birds of prey received through the BB&T Raptor Clinic, as well as injured wildlife found on zoo grounds. Conducts all in-house laboratory analysis and proper sample handling and processing. As directed, fills prescriptions, administers treatments and interfaces with keepers on proper administration. Maintains pharmacy and clinical supply inventory.

Requirements: Associate's or Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology and one to two years of experience in animal care. Must be licensed in the state of South Carolina within one year of start. Must possess a valid S.C. driver's license. Excellent written, oral and group presentation communication skills. Must be proficient in MS Office, Word, and Excel. Maintenance Technician (Part-time)

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for the repair and maintenance of a variety of Riverbanks’ structures, facilities, and equipment. Performs maintenance duty assignments such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical. May operate medium to heavy equipment such as a forklift, backhoe, skid steer, snorkel lift, trencher, etc. Participates in renovating, building, and repairing structures for the containment of zoo animals and for public use. Maintenance Technician - HVAC

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing various heating, air conditioning and refrigeration devices and systems. Senior Horticulturist

Graphics Assistant

Life Support Systems Technician

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is looking for a mechanically inclined problem solver who likes working with their hands. This individual will maintain excellent water quality throughout the Zoo by performing LSS maintenance and improvements, conducting dive operations and running water quality testing. This is a great opportunity to expand any operator’s skill set. Training and certifications in all areas of this job will be provided.

Duties:

  • Under general supervision is responsible for daily operation and maintenance of all aquatic LSS and public water features.
  • The LSS Technician will conduct water quality testing daily as well as participate in dive operations as needed.
  • Work closely with animal and maintenance staff to complete tasks related to LSS maintenance.
  • Ensure that all public water features maintain DHEC water standards when open to the public.
  • This individual must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime and reports to work on declared inclement weather days.
  • This position reports to Life Support Systems Manager.

Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and one year’s experience or four years combination experience and training in a related field. Candidates need to be highly motivated, detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. Experience and knowledge of pumps, fractionators, UV sterilizers, heat exchangers, ozone systems and automated control systems. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate their knowledge of water chemistry. Must be able to lift fifty pounds and work in an industrial environment. The candidate must have a SCUBA certification from a national accredited institution. Laboratory experience preferred.

The Catering Operations Banquet and Event Servers report to the Catering Operations Manager and Assistant Manager. Position is part-time and include day, evening, and weekend hours. Scheduling is flexible within limits.

Compensation: $9.00 – $11.00 Based on Experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the highest level of customer service.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude towards guests and staff.

  • Assist with set-up of tables, linens, chairs, etc, for full service of events.
