Parking Attendant

Salary: $8.18/hr

Duties: Under general supervision monitors Riverbanks parking lots and aids with traffic flow. Works to relieve traffic congestion, properly route deliveries and arrivals and maintain a clean, safe parking facility. Maintains good customer service and strives to provide our guests with a quality experience. May be cross-trained in other Guest Services positions such as ticket taker, Carousel Operator, Tram Driver, attendant, Dive Tender, etc. Reports to the Public Safety Manager.

Requirements: High school graduate with one to two years experience as a security officer; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Tram Driver

Duties: Under general supervision, operates multi-car tram along assigned routes to transport guests of the zoo and garden to and from central loading areas. Provides assistance to guests. Practices safe driving techniques to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians. Handles vehicle servicing as necessary. Maintains records and prepares reports as required. Must also be available to work evening events as needed. Reports to the Public Safety Manager.

Requirements: High school graduate and a minimum of two years previous passenger transportation experience. Excellent customer service skills a must. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver’s license.

Marketing Manager

Duties: Under general supervision, is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of all forms of marketing media, oversees and coordinates all media efforts with Advertising Agency to ensure objectives are met. Directs professional research efforts and manages department budget. Manages creative, strategic and implementation of advertising and promotional efforts. Creates and presents annual Strategic Marketing plans and implements strategies. Evaluates attendance and revenue trends. Creates and implements Direct Mail and Research efforts. Oversees and manages admission ticket sales to optimize ticket revenue (pricing, attendance goals, memberships, pre-sold groups, online sales, etc.). Analyzes research, industry trends and demographics. Assists with development and strategies for using social media both for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden as well as Riverbanks Society. Develops long and short range goals and objectives for media. Directs all branding efforts for Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in Marketing/Advertising. A minimum of four years of experience with working in or with advertising agencies, purchasing of and placement of all forms of media. Master's degree in Marketing and seasonal Attraction Marketing experience is preferred. Possess skills which require the knowledge of negotiating rates and terminology of advertising terms and industry language. Must possess a valid S.C. driver's license.

Mammal Keeper Hoofstock

Duties: Under general supervision is responsible for the proper care of mammals in Riverbanks’ animal collection. Works primarily with elephants, zebra, giraffe, and other large mammals. Feeds animals, cleans and maintains exhibits, works with veterinary staff to monitor and treat diseases, monitors animal behavior, and provides enrichment and training. Maintains detailed behavioral, reproductive, and medical records and reports. Interacts with Riverbanks guests and cooperates within a team to provide top quality animal care. Reports to the Senior Keeper and the Assistant Curator.

Requirements: Associate's degree in biology, zoology or wildlife management, Bachelors preferred, and one to two years experience working with zoo/exotic animals in a professional setting, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience working directly with elephants and other hoof stock preferred. Must possess or qualify for a valid SC driver's license.

Children’s Garden Horticulturist

Duties: Under general supervision, is directly responsible for maintaining the children’s garden and the various botanical education programs offered. These programs include on-site interpretation and presentations, garden camps, guided tours, school services programs, outreach programs to garden clubs and similar organizations, and special events. Performs a wide variety of duties necessary for the horticultural care of the children’s garden, including planting, monitoring pests, pruning, pesticide application, watering plants, mowing grass and removing weeds. Assists horticulture staff with extensive gardening projects in the Zoo and Garden when required.

Requirements: Associates degree in Horticulture with two years of experience in a horticultural area; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Preference is for a Bachelor's degree in horticulture, education, or a related field. Ability to work productively on a team and independently. Prefer experience in a public garden. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver’s license.
