Senior Keeper - Farm/Education

Life Support Systems Technician

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is expanding its aquatic animal exhibits, as well as its newly developed Life Support Systems Team. We are looking for a mechanically inclined problem solver who likes working with their hands. This individual will maintain excellent water quality throughout the Zoo by performing LSS maintenance and improvements, conducting dive operations and running water quality testing. This is a great opportunity to expand any operator’s skill set. Training and certifications in all areas of this job will be provided.

Duties:

  • Under general supervision is responsible for daily operation and maintenance of all aquatic LSS and public water features.
  • The LSS Technician will conduct water quality testing daily as well as participate in dive operations as needed.
  • Work closely with animal and maintenance staff to complete tasks related to LSS maintenance.
  • Ensure that all public water features maintain DHEC water standards when open to the public.
  • This individual must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime and reports to work on declared inclement weather days.

Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and one year’s experience or four years combination experience and training in a related field. Candidates need to be highly motivated, detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. Experience and knowledge of pumps, fractionators, UV sterilizers, heat exchangers, ozone systems and automated control systems. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate their knowledge of water chemistry. Must be able to lift fifty pounds and work in an industrial environment. The candidate must have a SCUBA certification from a national accredited institution. Laboratory experience preferred.

Attractions Supervisor

Events Assistant

While supporting the Event Staff, the position will handle the sales and coordination of all ‘basic’ internal events, Jungle Meals, Children’s Birthday Parties, and all other office administrative duties.
Of secondary importance will be updating and sending weekly financial and logistical reports, together with data management generated by software.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide cover and direct informational calls to Sales staff.
- Insure coordination of promotion material, ticket printing and written agreement development is done in a timely manner for all event and tickets clients
- Insure client contact and event information is accurately input into software on a daily basis.
- Respond in a timely manner, with availability and appropriate information, to all requests.
- Become proficient in the use of event software, follow procedures as set by the Sales Director and always quality control any data that is input.
- Work professionally and respectfully with all vendors, clients, and other departments who may be involved in the event process.
- Prepare for and attend the weekly sales meeting, having completed any of your actions points from the previous meeting.
- Collecting and processing client payments.
- Responsible for accurately reporting financials every week.
- Sends out all internal invoices to correct departments.
- Advise the Event Manager weekly of any outstanding balances.
- Responsible for accurately sending out weekly events calendar.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL SKILLS: Word, Excel, Phone etiquette, and computer skills

EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate has finished a degree of higher education, preferably relating to events and hospitality, or business, and covering aspects of event coordination and management or equivalent experience.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: They must be willing to work as a team, communicating with their own department, suppliers and other departments of the Zoo at all times. The job holder must have a confident yet assuring manner with clients at all times. Excellent oral and writing communication skills are required in order to make any client experience a success.
