ZOOventure Programs

ZOOventure programs are special opportunities for Riverbanks Society members to learn more about the world of Riverbanks. Age-specific programs are offered to all groups from the very young to adults!

Education Program

Young explorers and parents: Get ready to discover exciting things about nature! Each class is a learning adventure designed to teach your youngster new concepts that are appropriate for young minds. Classes are a combination of story time, songs, games, hands-on activities, animal encounters (when available) and crafts.

Ages:	2 to 5 with an adult
Length:	45 minutes
Location:	Wildlife Classroom (across from the Farm)
Cost:	$9 for one child (with one adult) per class Note: If you are not a Riverbanks member, a general admission ticket will also be required.

Dates: Jan 26 and 27

It's a hibernation party! Come to class dressed in your pajamas and learn about animals that sleep and hibernate through the winter.

Friday, January 27 @ 11:00-11:45am (ages 3-5)

+ Winter Wonderland

Dates: Feb 10 and 16

It does not snow often in Columbia, but it will be a snowy day in this class. Join us as we learn about animals that live in the snow and ice and how they survive.

Thursday, February 16 @ 10:00-10:45am (age 2) / 11:00-11:45am (ages 3-5)

Meet our Shetland ponies up close and personal! Sure to an unforgettable experience for young pony lovers, participants get a chance to feed, brush and ride the ponies. Parent participation is required for children ages 3 to 7.

SCHEDULED CLASSES (check back soon)

Join us while we bathe our Shetland Ponies! The program starts with a pony ride. We then unsaddle the ponies for their rinse, wash, condition and squeegee. Once they are all clean, we release them into the corral and watch them roll. Please do not bring other children with you.

Cost Per Child or Parent-Child Pair (for ages 5-7):

$26 (plus admission for general public)

Tuesday, August 2 @ 2:45-4:15pm (ages 5-9) **Note: For ages 5-7, a parent must attend with the child.**

Meet our Shetland ponies up-close and personal! Young pony lovers will have a chance to feed, brush and ride the ponies. Parent participation is required for this class (one parent per child please).

Cost Per Parent-Child Pair:

$18 (plus admission for general public)

Saturday, December 3 @ 9:00-10:00am (ages 3-5)

Come meet our Shetland ponies up-close! This class is specifically designed for the younger pony lovers out there. Children will learn how to feed, groom and care for the ponies! Parent participation is required for this class (one parent per child please).

Cost Per Parent-Child Pair:

$20 members / $26 general public; includes park admission for one child and one adult

Scheduled Dates and Times: **Note: Begins before the park is open to the public.**

Saturday, December 17 @ 8:30-10:00am (ages 6-9)

Enrichment encourages animals to interact with their environment and enhances their well being. Join us for this program to learn about the many different ways we enrich our Shetland ponies! Parent participation is required for this class (one parent per child please).

Cost Per Parent-Child Pair:

$22 members / $22 general public; includes park admission for one child and one adult
