Koala Knockabout is home to koalas, Australian fish and reptiles. The young and the young-at-heart won’t want to miss the opportunity to feed the friendly lories in the neighboring interactive lorikeet aviary. QUICK FACTS:
KOALA
Koalas are Australia's most recognized and beloved animals. Riverbanks' koalas were acquired through a sister-state relationship between South Carolina and Queensland, Australia.
LORIKEET
Visitors can experience dazzling colors, an array of activity and loads of fun while hand-feeding a flock of lorikeets in the walk-through lorikeet aviary at Riverbanks.
RED KANGAROO
Australia’s largest marsupial, an adult male red kangaroo can weigh as much as 200 pounds and grow to be 5 feet tall—but at birth the red kangaroo is not much larger than a jelly bean!
RED-NECKED WALLABY
A wallaby is generally used to describe any macropod (kangaroo) weighing less than 20 kilograms (44 pounds). The red-necked wallaby is the largest of all the wallabies.
